Consumer Protection

The CDMS Credential Protects the Consumer

The primary purpose of certification is to protect the consumer. CDMS certification attests that those who practice in the field have the required competence, knowledge, and expertise.

The CDMS credential draws together practitioners from a wide variety of disciplines. Common practice standards are set. Certified professionals are required to stay current through continuing education and must adhere to a strict Code of Professional Conduct. These requirements continuously remind Certified Disability Management Specialists of their obligation to the individuals who are ill, injured, and/or have disabilities.

nccaUnderscoring the importance of consumer protection is accreditation of the CDMS certification process by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). The role of the NCCA is to ensure the health, welfare, and safety of the public through accreditation of certification programs and/or organizations that assess professional competence.

Competency. Collaboration. Assurance. This is the CDMS promise to consumers.
